Berkeley Haas Part-Time MBA Overview

The Berkeley Haas part-time MBA program has ranked second in the country for the past six years, according to the US News report. Located in the Bay Area and offering a variety of schedule options, it is good choice for applicants who want to learn from the leading faculty and high-achieving community while working full-time.

The program starts in late July and usually lasts for three years. Students have the option to accelerate the program by one semester by taking a heavier load of courses or studying in the summer if they wish to do so.

There are three schedule options for the Haas part-time MBA program. The evening schedule may work better for those in the Bay Area, with the option to attend evening classes on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside the Bay Area, the weekend program may be a better choice, with classes on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the first three semesters in the program, and then elective courses from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the last three semesters. After the third semester, students are given an option to switch between program schedules should their circumstances change.

Finally, Haas recently introduced a new Flexible Online Option, where for the first part of the program students learn through online courses. Half of the courses will take place at a set time, while the other half will be on-demand and can be taken when convenient for the student. For the second part of the program, the students have a choice between taking their elective courses online or coming on campus for the in-person experience. This new option minimizes commuting time and may be preferred by applicants concerned about maintaining a work/life balance.

To graduate from the program, students must complete 13 core courses during the first three semesters, two signature events (WE Launch and WE Innovate) and complete 20 elective course units.
