The first time I applied for business school, I thought I was a shoo-in—high test scores, ample industry experience in managerial positions, and recommenders who loved me. But it turns out that a shopping list of achievements isn’t the secret formula to being a successful applicant. I got rejected from all the schools that I applied to.
Back then, I was subscribed to Scott’s newsletter, and to be honest, I was so sure that I would get in that I ignored all the content/tips posted in it. After receiving all the rejection letters, I took a few days to reflect on why I failed and realized I needed a coach. I immediately opened the latest newsletter I had received and contacted Scott.
From my first email and call with him, I knew this was the help I needed to turn my great shopping list into a great application. The catalyst for this transformation was the vital insider knowledge that Scott and his team had from their intimate relationships with top adcom. A true testament to their ability to synthesize this knowledge was their comprehensive essay guides that helped me shape my story as a candidate. When it came to interviews, I was yet again blown away by the resources Scott offered. I received personal coaching from former interviewers from the schools I applied to!
To summarize, it’s not only the resources and knowledge that Scott and his team have to offer. It’s their approach that ultimately led to me going to GSB this fall. Having a dedicated consultant gave me the extra push that I needed when I was running low on energy and inspiration, and their approach made me feel like I was part of a team that wanted me to win versus having a sterile consultant/client relationship.
